St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness is an all-volunteer non-profit organization. That means we need volunteers -- and that means YOU! There are many opportunities to volunteer to help increase awareness of ovarian cancer. We need people to assemble gift bags and symptom cards. We need people to staff health fairs and speak at Lunch 'n Learn gatherings. We need people who can give a little or give a lot of their time and talents. Below we're listing a few leadership positions SLOCA needs to fill to make it more effective. Anyone who is interested in one of these positions or who wants more information may contact President Beth Hudson by phone at 314-821-2549 or e-mail at info@sloca.org. DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONSThis volunteer coordinates publicity and advertising for SLOCA’s fund-raisers and other major events and for the Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month each September. The job involves securing speaking opportunities on radio and television; seeking coverage in newspapers, magazines and online; and evaluating advertising opportunities. VOLUNTEER COORDINATORThis coordinator will maintain an up-to-date listing of volunteers with their interests and talents and pair those volunteers with SLOCA’s needs. HEALTH FAIR COORDINATORThis person would seek opportunities for SLOCA to participate in health fairs and area festivals, schedule volunteers to staff the tables, and, where relevant, coordinate the sale of merchandise at the health fairs. PROPERTY MANAGERThis person will maintain SLOCA’s storage locker. The work includes tracking inventory, ordering replacement merchandise (with board approval) and receiving new merchandise. |
